hey guys I suffer from severe head aches and am going into high school next year and I really can't miss much school
I get the head aches usually in the morning and they start in the back of my head near the base and work their way to the front and once they are in the front I usually get quite sick from it

I get these on a regular basis and advil never seems to work unless I take it once I start to get the early pains near my neck and usually Im at school or it just doesn't work

I get them and they seem like some one is filling my head with water and the pressure is building up and when it gets to the front of my head it usually is near the eyes and temple region and then i get a nausea feeling in my gut
and sometimes vomiting occurs

last year I went to see a chiropractor to see about a bump on my neck that was bothering me and ended up going to get a massage for it, the pain went away but the bump didn't, I still have the bump but still no pain

so I am not sure of the point of this post but I was just looking for advice or someone elses experience

Hi, I'm sorry I can't offer any help, except to tell you to do body check again. I have similar problems too, except I get minor headaches with light fever at least 2-3 days per week. Its the back of my neck, top of the head and also behind my eyes. I have no idea what this is, but my conditions are not so severe, so I have not seen a doctor yet. This has gone on for 4-5 months, I'm just waiting for it to go away. But since you're experiencing severe headaches, I would say definately get yourself thoroughly checked.

I hope its nothing too serious.

I am really sorry to hear that you're going through these headaches. As a former migraine sufferer, I can relate to how debilitating they can be.
It almost sounds like tension headaches. Have you spoken with a dr. about tension or cluster headaches? They may be able to help. I was given Imitrax years ago for migraines and it would knock it out in no time.
I hope they can find out whats causing them and get you back to 100%.

Have you seen a neurologist? They're the people you want to see for severe and frequent headaches (assuming you've already mentioned it to your regular Dr). Bad headaches/migranes in teens can be caused by all the hormonal changes. A bump in your neck could be a muscle spasm/knot that is pressing on nerves...or it could be nothing at all, or far more serious.

If you're stressed out, it could be tension headaches. Just being worried about getting more headaches can be enough to trigger a headache. A tension headache can start like you describe - in the neck and going to the front. It feels like your head is in a vice and it's about to pop (when it gets bad).

Migranes tend to be more focal...on one side of the head or the other, usually in the front. A lot of times people get warnings that a migrane is coming called an aura (but not always)...you might smell something funny, get spots in your vision, or other problems. Sensitivity to light and sound is VERY common with a migrane (a normal light can feel blinding, and a whisper can seem like yelling). Migranes have a pounding sensation to them...it goes in rythem with your heartbeat. When they're bad, they can be debilitating.

There are other types of headaches as well...but you need to see a neurologist to help you sort out what's going on and make sure you don't have something more serious going on (too many scary things to mention!). A chiropractor isn't really going to be able to help you unless something in your spine is out of alignment.

I have frequent cluster headaches as well as tension headaches. Sometimes it can be from the way I sit slumped with my shoulders scrunched up to my head or other times from a stressful situation but in any case they can get pretty severe as well if I do not take advil/ibuprofen before they get bad. I have my headaches severaltimes a week and can get bad enough for light to bother me. I can totally relate to you and yours. As a teen it must feel worse as you already have the added stress of school and parents. I would def get checked further by a neurologist maybe they can figure something out to help relieve them. Sorry you are suffering at such a young age with these dipilitating things. Good luck in High School next year :) Hope your headaches go away

I suffer from migraines as well and they have yet to find out why. Go to your doctor for a checkup. Make sure it's not high blood pressure, get some blood work done. Try drinking water before going to bed to rule out dehydration causing it. I have taken alleve and had some help at the start of the migraine. Mine also tend to happen in the morning as soon as I wake up. Are you waking up with your heart racing? Could be tension or tachycardia. Tachycardia needs to be checked by your doctor. If you can try Robaxin (need a script for that). But it will knock you out for several hours. It's a strong CNS depressant. I have had to take that for when I am physically ill from them. Good luck in finding out what is triggering them.

I sympathize with you completely. I too used to suffer from them on a weekly basis. Although I have been able to minimize mine with Diet and a reduced intake of caffeine, you still want to see a Doctor. Imatrix is what I take as well and it works great. There are several other medications too. The most important thing is to see the right doctor to help. Migranes are the worst and I would not wish them on anyone and they were something I Feared on a daily basis. I hope that you can find a good doctor and get the help you need.

If your chiro offered no help you might try another one. Cranialsacral(sp) therapy one would be good.

Also I know a gal who had homeopathy cure her migraines.

Could be tention, hormones, bone structure, diet, allergies? there are many different reasons for headaches.. sigh.
