I love the stuff. The best thing about it is that I can configure it to cover the left or right half of the tank and use it like a UTH or I can cover half the bottom of the tank the long way, divide the cage into 3 sections and house 3 sets of hatchlings. It does need a thermostat. The only problem I have is finding a kind of tape that won't fall off. I've tried duct tape and electrical tape and eventually the tape comes loose and the coils start to pull away from the bottom of the tank. My latest solution is to tape it with duct tape and then tape a piece of aluminum foil over the whole thing. That way, it helps the heat stay in and when the tape fails there's no great distance to go.

Aliza,
I do about the same thing, BUT there is some tape that heating and air people use. Its silver tin tape I dont know the name of it but you can find it in the heat and air part of Lowes or Home Depot. It holds that cable down with no problems!!!

it works great and I Use it for my rack dydtem whick you could cut the wood like a ditch and stick the cable in there ans that works great. I used duck tape which worked great to keep it down.1

Thanks everybody!
So what kind of thermostat would you recommend to use with the cable?

My snakes have always been kept in a temp controled room. We're having display enclosures built so they can be more out in plain view. This is the first time I've had to figure out this kind of stuff.

Thanks so much for all the advice, folks.
