I have to replace a rack and I'm not sure if I want tape or cord.

I have tape racks, they seem to heat better, but also seem to have more risk of overheating. I like the cord because they don't seem to have overheating issues, but they also don't heat up that well.

Other than that, I'm pretty much open to any suggestions.

I only use Zoo Med heat cord. The heat tape is way too risky. It overheats and has high risk of starting fires as it is not insulated such as heat cord. The heat cord gets plenty hot enough, just may need to up the thermostat more, but is def better than burning down your collection.

I voted cord. I had this dilemma not too long ago and choose to go with Zoo Med Heat Cable because it didn't have the chance of starting fires (which I've heard a few stories about this), ease of assembly(I made my own rack), and that it doesn't seem to have the same risk of overheating. I have a Herpstat which is set at 88 and it usually keeps my tubs 90-92.

I prefer easy heat over zoomed, thicker gauge which helps it from having cold spots from bending it, you also get more cord for the buck, but between your choices i choose heat tape.
