Hey all! Ive been a member here for a while but I dont think Ive posted...

I used to have some Crested Geckos about 4 years ago but I gave them up when I moved. =(

Anyways, my name is Matt.I live in Oklahoma and thought I would stop in and introduce myself. I currently do not have any cresties but I do have 3 Leos!

I just got my Leos' 2 days ago from a friend who is moving out of state and doesnt want to risk traveling with. So he GAVE them to me. Here are some shots of them and my setup... Please tell me what you think!

welcome!

Hi Matt,

Welcome on the GF!

Your first leo looks fat and healthy; a pretty guy!

The second one, I can't tell because it's a pic from the side (might be a bit thin), but the third one has a very sickly-looking thin tail, and a much too big head for its slim body....

I would keep the third one separate, in case he has parasites that the others don't have yet, and try to fatten him up with wax worms, mealworms, extra calcium and vitamins, or maybe Marcia's slurry (recipe is here on the GF), etc. He might be dehydrated, too. Is he eating ok, did you observe it yet? You need to clean his poop out immediately, to avoid new infection if he has parasites.

If he doesn't get a nice fat tail in a few weeks, I would take him to the vet and see if he has pin worms (they are not THAT bad; he'll get one or two oral Panacur treatments, and that will take care of it, but a vet visit is between USD 50-75). The worst thing he could have is crypto (search for this on the GF...), and it's highly contagious. If your friend got him from a breeder, that is quite unlikely. Or did he get him from a pet store?

Your setup is very beautiful, but they are kept on sand which can cause impaction (let's hope the third gecko doesn't have that; you can tell he has swallowed substrate if he has an unusually dark under-belly). If possible, you could change to a different substrate; something that cannot be swallowed, such as reptile carpet, tiles, or paper towels. Since your setup looks too naturalistic for paper towels, I would use tiles, or maybe big clay-fired hydroculture balls, and slates on top (I use that, too; looks good and is harmless, and you can build caves for them with the slates). You have a very aesthetic environment!

As to the morphs, the first and last one look like Normals or High Yellows, and the second one like a Blizzard (but I'm no expert). Very pretty! And you won't have any shed problems; they all still got their nice long fingernails, which is good :D

Do they have a humid hide in there, to help with shedding? I can't see one, but then your furniture is so professional, I don't know what it all is.

Hope you enjoy them!

Greetings,

Chrissy

Hey Mat,
I agree with the post above ENTIRELY.
The leos are all beautiful, esp the first, but the last leo if DEFINITELY underweight and possibly dehydrated.... Their tails should always be nice and plump and they should never have wrinkly/loose skin...DEFINITELY separate him/her and give him/her plenty of mealworms or crickets and water!!

LZRDGRL already said everything that I would...Could you post another pic of the cage? Like one that shows the inside a little better? It is VERY beautiful, but like she said, it's hard to see if you have a humid hide in there?? And I personally wouldn't use sand. I use paper towels in my set-ups, but since yours is very beautiful & natural, consider one of the other options like slate, repti-carpet, etc...

Keep us updated with all three leos, esp the status of little one... Welcome to the forum, glad to meet you as I am new here myself! :)
