Hi, I found a gecko caught in a glue/sticky trap at my work yesterday. She was still alive so I quickly got some olive oil and massaged her loose. She had already ripped a thin section of skin from her side and we lost her tail.

She is pregnant with two eggs, but I'm concerned about this very dark coloration in her stomach. Dose anyone know what this is?

She isn't moving much, but when i put her in the sink to clean her yesterday and today she's moving a lot and running around. however, i set her on the table while i ate breakfast this morning and she didn't move one bit. I've made her a small terrarium for the time being. I've put paper thin zuccini and squash slices, banana, planted aloe and oregano, put mosquitoes and some other small bugs from my compost bin with her but I think she's too weak to even eat. she layed in the water for an hour or two yesterday evening.

I just want to nurse her back to health and the set her free at my home, where i see geckos and small lizards all the time.

It looks like a house gecko. I'm no expert on these guys but I'm pretty sure that they don't eat vegetables. She would do best with live small crickets or mealworms. She is nocturnal but doesn't have eyelids so if she's sitting without moving during the day, she's probably sleeping. She may be too injured to survive. Just keep her warm, try the crickets and see if she can make it.

It seems like a Mediterranean Gecko A.K.A the Mediterranean House Gecko. I would research the care on them and take it to a vet ASAP. Mediterranean Geckos are invasive to the US so you could keep it as a pet. I hope it does well!
