Help - going away!

Hey guys and gals,

I have came across a problem not so much with my eggs, but with the timing of proposed hatching. I am due to go away on Friday 11th of April leaving about midmorning (so I can check for eggs then) and returning on sunday evening (so I can check again then) but I am worried about the time inbetween.

Currently my eggs are doing brilliantly and are in airtight containers. So my question is, what is the safest way to leave them when I go?

I am so tempted not to go, but we're taking our daughter to see my family in Scotland for the first time since she was born so I can't really get out of it. :main_thumbsdown: :main_laugh:

Thanks for any replies. Maybe I am panicking, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. :main_yes:

Two choices:

If you leave the eggs and one hatches, the baby will probably be fine for that amount of time in the deli cup. The temp and humidity are good and the baby won't need to eat then anyway. I have left my eggs for the weekend and found a baby in the cup on my return.

Another choice is to have a trusted friend check once halfway through your trip and move the baby if it's hatched.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for that Aliza, but I thought that the hatchlings wouldn't survive longer than 12 hours in a sealed container (which is what I am incubating in).

I would possibly punch a few wholes just in case then right before you leave just to be safe!

If you're using Hatch-Rite, you can't punch holes because it'll dry out the medium. I don't know what to tell you besides see if a friend can check on the incubator while you're away.
