As some of you know, Ive had one hatchling so far this sesason. Hes been doing great so far, no signs of any problems. HAs eaten great, grown well, and fine. For the past 3 days or so he hasnt eaten. I jsut thought he was taken a little break. Today I went to put new mealworms in his dish, and noticed he was walking wierd. He was walking as if he had MBD, unable keep himself up. (never showed this before)(I check often). I tried to pick him up to see whats wrong and he started shaking(I thought he was jsut trying to escape), so I go to pick him up and he began to shake and convulse rapidly, with his mouth open. At first I thought it was aggression, but It was uncontrolable. He continued to shake like that is if he was having a ceisure for 1 minute, and calmed down, dragging his rear legs and crawling. Im thinking MBD, but Ive never seen any signs of this before? What do you guys think? What should I do? I forgot to add, he was shaking his tail uncontrolably aswell, after he stopped shaking his entire body.

WOW! That must have been very upsetting and traumatic to see. Is he hydrated? Maybe parasites? recent medicine? come into contact with insecticides, poisons? what are the temperatures? I remember hearing about a couple of breeders who's temperatures went up really high and caused the geckos to show symptoms of MBD and had seizures. I would think its either the food or the temperature that might of caused this.
Best of luck with the little guy:)

I think for now it's worth making a paste of water and calcium with D3 on your finger and trying to get him to eat a little of it and then making a vet appointment.

Normal calcium wont do any good. you need liquid calcium if its in fact MBD. I think T-rex sells some in pet stores in a small bottle, but online you can get calcionate for around $15 + shipping

At least you figured out what was going on. I really suggest taking that guy down to your vet so you can get some medication.. Most likely some Oral Calcium.. Make sure to keep him well hydrated as well.

Yes, Im definitely making an appointment for as soon as possible. I want to make sure he is ok, and if any thing needs to be done, he gets the proper treatment.
