Hey guys,

I'll try to get some more pictures soon. It's going to be hard though... Only a few days ago I took Amber back home with me from uni where she had been for the past month. Amber seems ok, just taking a little longer to settle back down than expected. Amber hasn't been eating great for the past two days, only 5 mealworms each day (compared to the usual 15!) But I'll just put it down to being a little stressed out due to the move. Also, Amber is still young, and as far as I know, has had little handling before. So, being young, Amber kinda isn't that great with handling at the moment, but getting better every day! I just don't want to stress her (or him?) out too much. But, I'll see what I can do!

p.s. Felicia, what did you notice, Im curious!

I see what could very well be a folicle, which would mean Amber is female. But it could just be the pic angle.

i don´t se a folicle their but maybe a bit right of the circle that could be something but all in all this gecko is 5 month 30 gramms and in my opinion you have 100% sure a female I don´t see any singhs for a male.

Just a quick update...

Thanks to all who showed an interest and helped to sex my leo, Amber. I've waited about 3 weeks now and I think I can say that she is indeed a girl. The bulges that she had are now reduced. Additionally, the size and shape of her head supports this, (her's is smaller than the average size of a male's).

Thanks,

Dakota

i would say female, but i can't tell yet (the bulges are throwing me off, but the scales above the pores don't seem to be alined like a male's would be)

I think female. My girlie has a little bit of a bumpy bottom that made me doubt a bit in the beginning but it hasnt got any bigger and no signs of pores. Even though the guy in the pet shop didnt know what Yoshi was it was blatently obvious without even looking for pores he was male cos of his big "bulge" :)

I'm going to throw in an opinion on this because I have a SHCT that I am not sure about as well. I have been checking every week or so to see if preanal pores develope and as of yet no waxy pores, yet visible tiny dimples when you look close. Very small bulges and he/she (Willow) weighs 32 grams. Had him/her since March and was 8 grams at that time.. Friday I aquired a Murphy's Patternless from a pet** that weighs a whole 6 grams and named it Sable right away only to pick it up yesterday and found very prominant bulges that none of my other 3 hatchlings/juvies showed at all and certainly never at that age. My thoughts now turn to my SHCT to be female even though it has bulges and that my new baby that is so young is male. Is it possible for a juvie so young to develope his bulges so young?

So all in all even though we see bulges on your SHTCT it seems to me that you have a female as well as I do. They weigh almost the same and look visibly alike on the underside. I am still keeping Willow seperate from others just in case but I do now believe I have a female even though for 4 months Willow has confused me greatly on sex. Good luck in determining her/his sex but female is my opinion :)
