Help! Stuck Shed?

My MS het bell has a little bit of stuck shed around her left eye, but not on the eye. I'm giving her a warm soak as we speak and have been trying to get it off with wet q tips and my tweezers if i get a tiny piece up, but I can't get any more off. It was like 3 days after she shed before I caught the shed, as it was so close in color to the tone of her skin, and have been trying to get it off ever since. What else can I use to get it off? Should I keep trying and if I can't get it off, wait till she sheds next time(it isn't causing her any pain or discomfort or trouble hunting from what I can see. Her eye is fully open and everything)?

Any advice is appreciated!!!

Thank you!

Well, if she doesn't mind the warm soak, it certainly doesn't hurt. But if the skin isn't constricting around anything, and she sees and eats well I would just wait until the next shed. I'd also stop using the tweezers even just around the eye...one false move is all it takes...hope I could help.

So its ok to leave it? I got some of it off on the top of her eye, but not all. I'll just wait till the next shed if she seems ok with the shed being there. I'll keep checking on her. Thank you!!!

You're welcome. Yeah i'd leave it. It'll come off with the next shed. Like I said, if it's not cutting of circulation she's good to go. :)

isn't it sad, to see some leos in stores, whose toes are swollen and bulging from circulation not flowing do to stuck shed on toes, it breaks my heart to see them in pain.

Same here :main_no:....As soon as I turn 16 I'm going to apply for a job at my local ******** and see if I can get into the reptile department. I go there a lot, and with the help of one of the staff members to whom I am well known for the knowledge about leos and such(I'm not being conceited, just quoting what she said lol) I might have a chance and hopefully I can change some of that neglect and such.....

I would not leave it on there. especially around the eye. Place her in a shipping container with wet paper towel over the hot spot with the lid on for a few hours. This will loosen the skin and she should get it off.

I don't have any shipping containers and I'm afraid that will freak her out. She's 6 1/2-7 months old and like I said above it isn't harming her and she should shed in another 2 weeks so if I keep putting moisture on it, if I can't get it off at least I'm sitll trying. Plus I really don't want to get tweezers that close to her eye I have already pinched her eyelid unintentionally and I really don't want to have that happen again. Is there anything else I can do besides continued warm soaks and wet qtips? I don't want to freak her out with the small space. what about a critter carrier instead of the shipping container?

Thats fine. I just think that shed skin especially around the eye should be tended to. dont stress her out it the process though.

If you have one of those throw away tupperware dishes that you can put some small holes in...it works the same as a shipping container. I wouldn't use the tweezers just the moist q-tip around the eye. I think that the main issue is that the dead skin can cause an infection in the eye.

I'm just afraid of freaking her with the small space, as she has never been shipped. Thats why I suggested the crittter carrier. Its larger, and I can still cover the bottom with moist paper towel....:main_huh:

How about just wipe the area with a piece of wet tissue paper until the edge rolls up, then slowly peel it off with tweezers? That's how I do it if my geckos have stuck shed. I think if the piece of stuck shed near the eye is not that big and bothering her, it might be ok to just leave it until the next shed.

If you soak place her in the humid container for a few hours she will get it off. You can also squirt a little saline on it to loosen it. I never really had problems with my leos shedding. I just recieved an enigma a few weeks ago and she shed everything off but a little skin on the inside of her eye. i sprayed it with saline gently then placed her in a shipping container with moist paper towels for a few hours. It worked like a charm and she got it off herself. i would not use tweezers especially around the eye.

Hey, didn't want to start a new thread. My gecko just shed, and there was some stuck on the end of her nose. I got most of it off, but there's some stuck in her nose hole thingies. Will she be able to get those out herself? Can she breathe okay? They're not completely obstructed but I don't want anything to happen to her... Is there any way to get that out? I can't imagine how I would go about doing it...
