Gotta catch 'em all!

I was looking at one of my leos the other day and noticed that the tail didnt seem quite right. But me nor my boyfriend could pinpoint anything obvious, so I just left it alone. Well, I went to go check on the leo later that day and I noticed a huge superworm curled around the tail digging in! I've never even heard of superworms eating leos alive! This blew my mind. I guess that superworm wasnt very appetizing and the leo didnt eat it right away, so it was running around loose in the cage. I immediately through the superworm out and soaked the leo in warm water to reduce the chances of infection, then cleaned it out with antibiotic ointment. I then took the leo to the veterinarian who put it on Injectable Baytril at 0.015cc's q 48hr PO. Yesterday, I gave the first dose around 2pm and noticed around 9-10pm that it was having small convulsions in the lower abdomen. Anyone heard of bad reactions on Baytril? The vet said that Baytril was safe for reptiles... Im really worried.

I wouldnt really call them neuro like symptoms, per se. It was more like twitching, almost like shivering because it was cold. And yes, I did stop the Baytril immediately, and yes I did contact a vet. The vet told me that Baytril shouldnt cause problems like that in reptiles. Maybe it is from something else? But I dont think I will continue with the Baytril anyways, because I dont want to risk it. I dont think the wounds are that bad and i think anti-septic or antibiotic ointment should do it. Its not worth risking to me.

Baytril is generally a safe antibiotic when used correctly. I have seen it used hundreds of time with no ill effects. I would still use it and see if it happens on a second dose.
