Most of what you can do is a question of your relationship with your friend. I'm not sure what you mean by "crapped out his intestines". If you mean the leo has diarrhea, then the best thing is to clean up the mess, keep an eye on it and see if this is an isolated incident or if it's an ongoing problem. If you mean the leo has something hanging out of its vent, then he needs to get off sand right away, be put on moist paper towels and at least get a warm soak. In either case, unless this was just a single poop event, the leo needs to see a vet, (as I can see you know) but if something is actually hanging out of it, it is an emergency. You can't make your friend take it. You can offer to take it yourself and pay for it (or split it, or go through the bother of taking it if your friend will pay) and see if that works. Otherwise, it's kind of between you and your friend, unless you want to get the SPCA involved, which will probably not do much good and likely make your friend become your ex-friend (but there may be reasons why that needs to happen --it's your call).

Good luck,

Aliza

Like Rob said, I don't think that sand was the main issue here. I mean, if your constipated you aren't just going to "crap out your intestines one day".

However, it would be interesting to find out the truth about what really caused this to happen.
