do you cut a hole in the side of you humid hide ?
Yes I do for 2 reasons...
1) It seems to hold humidity inside of the hide better in my opinion...

2) It keep condensation from building up on the rack draw "ceiling"...

Chad, good to see you pop your head in ever now and then...:main_thumbsup:

Some people on another forum think this is too small of a set up... LOL

All I can do is laugh I guess...

Gee Gregg, I get so sick of seeing people with "gecko ghettos" like yours (please note the extra sarcasm). Now the real response is - I think it looks great and I also do the side entries for humid hides. Oh, I also know we frequent the same forums - YIKES :wall: .

For a rack...that's a good size

Now if that were a regular tank like on a book shelf or something I would say its too small...thats just my opinion though

When I got my leo she was in a 10 gal and I moved her to a 20 gal. Even though most say a 10 gal is plenty, I thought it was too small....

Looks very functional Gregg. Sure looks better than the temporary "tubs" all mine are going in while I finish their glass vivs. Any pics of the entire rack around here?

Lyndsey, 10g per leo is the minimum... A single leo will do fine in a 10... But like I have told others, its great that you want to offer your leos more space but it is a matter of preference more so than what is actually NEEDED...

20 gallon setups are just not practical when you have to house well over a hundred leos separately...

Plus, these are reptiles we are keeping... They do feel more secure in tighter quarters than they would in wide open spaces...

A top priority for any keeper and breeder should be to offer a safe, secure, clean, environment where there is room to move around and that is exactly what a rack system offers...

Thanks for looking and the comments everyone!!!:main_thumbsup:

I agree, I see alot of people trying to say that a 10 gallon is to small for a leo. For one adult leo, a 10 gallon is fine, going a little bigger is fine but not needed. You also got to remember the bigger you go, the harder it is for your leo to catch its food,if you dont hand feed. No matter what size tank you go with, your not going to be able to provide them with the room they would have in the wild.

Oi...

I said for a RACK that's a good size. If it were a single tank on its OWN it would be too small to ME.

Fleck is active...I see her walking around all the time. When she was in her 10 gal she had barely enough room to walk without walking through her water dish and all that. The 10 gal was too small in MY opinion. She has alot more room to cruise about now.

I also never said anything about 20 gal tanks and hundreds of leos. I understand thats not practical

I'm sorry for all the words in caps...one of my pet peeves is when people don't stop to process what you said...

Now with that said, I wasn't trying to be rude...

Its cool Lyndsey, I understood you perfectly, I was just putting out some valid info and opinions that I did not bring up earlier... I processed what you said just fine...

I never took you as being rude but from your last post I see you might be a little "quick on the draw"... LOL:main_laugh:
