You got me. Besides Boas and Pythons and some other species my knowledge of snake species is pretty slim.
Is it in the colubrid family?

You guys just know your exotics. ;-) This is a native species. It's called the Northern Brown Snake, Storeria dekayi dekayi, and is found throughout the eastern United States all the west to Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas (although there are different subspecies depending upon where you're at).
