Hide size

I am thinking about making (like to build/make things) a hide for my leos.

1. Is 5.5"(L) x 4"(W) x 2.5"(H) big enough or too small? This will be for one leo, would this accommodate two leos?

2. Or should I go with 10"x7"x2.5" for a hide box for two leos?

5.5x4x2.5 is to small. The height is OK but there is not enough room for the leopard gecko to get around. I have a hide for 2 Leos that is 9 x 6 x 2 and that seems to be fine. The second one you said is OK.

you could make both sizes and see which ones the leo's prefer
When I was making assorted hides/caves for mine I tried them out to see which where better liked ... only two liked bigger hides the rest seemed to prefer the smaller hides (about the size of crix tubs here so not much different to your smaller measurements) no matter where I placed them.

The smaller the space, the more the leos like it. They would MUCH rather prefer a small area they can squeeze into, than a larger one. Of course there is a limit to how small is acceptable, but it's really up to you!

I would make it just an inch wider if I were you. (5.5(L)x5(W)x2.5(H)) Heather is right, leos and all reptiles for that matter would rather have a tight dark space than a roomy one

Take Shawns advice and you may have a dead leo in a month or less...

Ok, how's 5"x7"x2.5" for the hide? I think that should be more then enough room for one leo and possibly two?

I have a few hides that are 5"round and mine like them just fine. Normally only one uses them at a time but 2 can fit in there and do when they want to.
