Hidey McG's set up

I wanted to get the Bromeliad plant structure up off the floor to make more room. A little sawing here, a nail there & voila, Hidey's hide is now a green rooftop. The plants were sold in some type of foam base that is made to look like wood so I was able to push nails right into it. The boys love it because they get to check in on Hidey without actually disturbing him during the day. There's a 1" viewing crack where the structure meets the back of the tank.

Very nice set-up :), I love the exo terra cages, have one for my skunk geckos. They really are more aboreal species, they work great for aboreal species. Leos arent, just seems like alot of wasted space. Just my opinion though.

Super Snazzy! I like the hide too. Makes me want a better looking home for Echo.:main_thumbsup:

The cage was a gift--though if I had more knowlege at the time I would have gone with their wider version. I will probably go to a wider version as he gets older because the floor space even with the raised hide is limited. I wouldn't want to cramp his style.

He is not on sand as you see in my first day pic avatar (stupid newbie:main_rolleyes: ). He's on paper towels now. I'm reading the site as fast as I can & making adjustments (undoing pet store learning) as I go. Thanks to everyone here. You are all immensely helpful!

The exo terra glass terrarium is 12x12x18...maybe some day I'll have to expand our geckos to include someone who'd be happier with the tall version :)

I've considered that. The back wall is actually a styrofoam piece that slides right out. I would not be surprised if within a year the tank is on edge.

I'm beyond modifying now. I've already decided this set will be for the young one only. I'm dreaming of a larger set up in my near future! Wouldn't it be great if pet stores made you bring in a picture of your set up BEFORE selling you the pets? I'm much less of a stupid newbie than I was before finding this site, but to think of the wasted $$

When I was able to get a 12x12x18 exoterra for a good price it was a great excuse to get a crested gecko too (thanks, Jeanne). Think about that soon.

They probably wouldn't sell to anyone on this site if that were true. After all, Petsmart/Petco/etc. doesn't sell papertowel/tile for substrate or tupperware hides :main_laugh:

But they do have repti-carpet that they could push for. Like I said in a past post, if ony they would tell people that what they state in the caresheets are very basic and more research is required, a large percentage of problems could be solved.
