Hiding all day?

I've had a gargoyle gecko for about a month now. At first he spent most of his time up by the lights climbing on the vines, but now (after I added a little wooden 'cave' type thing) he spends what seems like 24 hours a day there. I don't ever see him come out. Is this normal or should I take it out?

Well they are a nocturnal species, so it's natural for him to be in the cave for (what seems like) all the time. Maybe before he was searching for somewhere dark to rest, now that he has that, he likes to stay there. ;)

But he's ALWAYS there under, this little log thing, like for example this log thing isnt much bigger then him. the log is only a few inches long and wide and we never even see him poke his head out. He doesn't even move under the cave thing. he just sits there, and has been doing so for about a week. Is it ok to take him out and hold him? He's very small and likes to jump alot

put your hand in there and let him get used to your hand, being a gargoyle I'm not sure if it's that same as a leopard gecko but I would assume that it is.

then gently slide under his belly and scoop him up and hold him for about 5 mins and increase everyday, just remember he is a reptile and needs a heat source so don't have him out so long that he is cold or can't regulate his temprature

yeah mine just hide all the time, there isn't really anything for them to do so that's all they really need to do XD

I'm just so afraid I'll lose him though because he jumps SO much, like he climbs on his log to the top of his cage and tries to jump out so it's like i dont want to pick him up and scare him because i dont want his tail to fall off. becuse he got scared when i touched him with my hand.

that's probably why you should do aweek of just putting your hand in the cage

Or hand feed, that builds relationships FAST!

Yea my one Gecko Ninja hides out all day also, since I got him or her. Sometimes I will see his little head pop out from under his little coconut shell he is hiding under. My other gecko on the other hand is always in front of the cage playing and stalking me. They are both very different.
