Kiki just bit me! i put my had in her cage so she could get used to me before i picked her up, and she just chomped down. she'd never done that before. i think she maybe thought i was dinner? i don't know. obviously it didn't hurt, just surprised me. should i give her some space and try again tomorrow, or what? hmm..

She probs thought that you were feeding her thats all. Just simply put ur hand in there again and dont move it. If u see her lookin like she will bite...just back up a bit. Thats how i got my big guy to stop. Show them ur not scared.

okay, so she was starving. a couple minutes ago she pounced on her own poop. so i just gave her a bunch of crickets. i've never seen her eat this fast... haha. which is weird because she ate a lot yesterday! maybe she's in a growth spurt?

Babies are like that! I'm sure I could feed mine twice a day and they'd be juuuust fine with that :) Do you hand feed her mealies? If so, that could be why she nipped at your hand. That is the reason I do not hand feed ANY of my geckos. I had a female that would lunge at my hand every time I put it in her tank because I hand fed her mealies and waxies when I first got her because she was so thin. It never hurt, but dang if I didn't jump EVERY time lol.

haha yeah, but no i've never hand fed her. i usually drop the mealies in front of her, but i never put my hand right in front of her. i usually drop them from a bit higher. who knows.. haha

LOL! I have a 5 month old male that nips at me all the time.
It's just because he thinks I'm dinner.
Sometimes, he will slowly creep up on my hand, wag his tail, and chomp down on my finger! :main_laugh:
Of course, he lets go just as fast when he realizes that I'm not a giant yummy mealie!
Sometimes if I touch him from behind, he will snap around and try to bite, but he does the exact same thing if a cricket touched him.
In any case, he is not "really" biting me :)
