I prefer aspen as well.
I have seen those enclosures with the cool doors at pet stores, but I did buy a couple on line. I found an internet pet supply company with free shipping on orders over $99.

Agreed!!!
Aspen is usually the substrate of choice for hognose snakes... It has a low dust content, holds burrows pretty well and is non-toxic...

I would not use paper towel as a substrate for hognose snakes... As Robin stated, they like to burrow and feel more secure...

I am going to be trying some bioactive substate with a couple of my hogs and a couple of leos to see if it works well in a rack system...

I agree with the aspen, too. I always find mine burrowing in it.
