Here are some of my homemade stuff. I'm thinking of setting up shop and selling them but I want to know if anyone would buy it first lol.

Let me know what you think :D

In the first photo I made the large two level gray hide in the back of the terrarium and the water and food dish holder in the front left.

Also this is no longer how the terrarium looks. Aside from the tile, food, and calcium dish everything is different. In case some of you were worried about the little pebbles.

Id buy it! What methods are you using? I see the Styro one but some of them have that high gloss finish that reminds me of pottery after its been fired up.

Very nice.... I've made some like that too... and they've held up pretty darn good... I made a "Mayan ruin" background piece for my big male crestie, and it's been in his tank for over a year, and still looks mint. same with some hides and rocks that I've made...

Very nice, like i said though.... keep it up!

Cheers.

Those are sweet. My only issue would be size. I have a 20L for my girl and those look pretty big. That are awesome though!

Thanks :)

I used the Styrofoam method for all of. Some of them were sealed with mod podge but the gray moist hide cover and the corner hide were sealed with latex paint. I'm not a huge fan of the super glossy look but the latex paint makes them a lot easier to clean.

I'm still on my first can of paint but after its finished I want to try and find one with more of a matte finish.

Lol. Yeah those are pretty big. I'm working on some smaller ones right now. Ones that are closer to the ground and take up less vertical and horizontal space.

Same here. I did a ton of research before I got my geckos and saw a bunch of posts for homemade hides and so I've been making mine own stuff primarily since I got them May of last year. And the first few things I made are still in great condition. I've only had to touch some things up a few times and that was mostly because we moved a couple of times and they got damaged during the move.

I want to be able to make my own water and mealworm dishes too but that won't be for awhile.

I do a lot with clay and mod podge. But never know what to put on after. Can't find any paints or sealants that specifically says non toxic. But suppose a few coats of mod podge is enough

Mod Podge is definitely good to use as a sealer. I decided to try latex paint because I needed something that could handle getting wet. For some reason one of my geckos thinks that it's appropriate to poo on top of her hide lol.

I can mainly shop at like Walmart or hobby lobby. Everything I find never says non toxic. I'd assume all spray paints are after dry. But don't wanna risk it. A specific one u like/use ? And a pic would be helpful. The mod works as a waterproofer as well. Made some dishes. And works well. But would like a final sealant if possible.
