just got my hovabator in the mail and set it up but i was wondering if theres anything i should know about where i should place it. as of now i am putting it in an upstairs closet but lately its been getting really hot upstairs so im worried it might get too hot.

Also i dont have a digital scale so are they any other methods to get the right moisture in the vermiculite?

thanks for the help

You could place it in the room with the thermostat for your house. Temps should be pretty level there.

Check TUG's site for the alternative "squeeze" method, I think I remember seeing it in one of their news letters?

i looked at the weahter forecast and it should be cooling down so i think the upstairs closet should be good but does there need to be good ventilation or is a closet alright?

Never put one in a closet, so I can't help you there. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Good luck.

Mine are in a room that stays cooler than the rest of the house in the summer. My temps fluctuate about 1 degree in both incubators.

As long as the place you keep the hobovator doesn't get hotter than your incubation temp you're OK. I keep my incubator in my bedroom on the bureau in the early spring and late fall but for most of the season I keep it in the basement.

I keep ours in our utility room. The room stays cooler and stays at a pretty constant temp. For the most part our incubators have only fluctuated a degree up or down with the exception of the 3 day power outage.
