Hi all I have had no issues with my hovabator till today Ive had great hatches and never issues with temperature fluxuating till today when that all changed
, Im in Northern Ontario where it was 90f today. needless to say my incubator skyrocketed to 88f not sure if it went higher in the middle of the day cause i didnt realize till this evening. I kept turning it down with no luck then had toleave for a while and returned it was 82 I have leo and beardie eggs. I have plugged it back in Im trying to get it back down to 83 but it keeps going back up so far to 85 even with persistantly turning the temp down. we have cool nights so it will be going below 80 so keeping the hova unplugged wont work and I dont want to fry the eggs any suggestions I live in the boonies so going to get a reptile thermostat tomorrow isnt something that I can do. So are there any other options that I have to dealwith this?
I was thinking about building a incubator with fish tank heater but i dont even know if the eggs are going to be ruined from the temp fluctuation.
thanks for any advice.
I just moved it into the basement an egg is pipping waiting for the temp to go down so i can reset it. Im not sure if itll work but figured its worth try

With the hobovator, if the ambient temperature (in the room outside the hobovator) goes up much past the temperature you want to incubate at, the temperature inside the hobovator will also go up. There is nothing you can do about it with a thermostat because the thermostat only heats and doesn't cool. The only thing you can do with a hobovator is to put it in a place where the ambient temps are cooler, and that's where the basement comes in. The other person having trouble already has the incubators in the basement where the temps are lower and for some reason is still having a hard time. It's likely your incubator will need to be in the basement for the summer.

Put it in the basement, assuming you have one. That way, no matter how hot it gets outside, the incubator will always be heating higher than the ambient room temp.

Spiked Temps.

same happend to me thank god it was before i had my eggs but now its almost 90s because its getting warmer out ALOT warmer and i set it up in the winter

My egg AREA (not in a bator ) spiked briefly to 90 degrees
before I realized and turned the air and ceiling fans on.
I have read (not tried) somewhere bringing them down
with ice......Little Giant Info says use in room temp.
65 to 72 degrees.
Take care. HJ

I put it in the basement last night after a couple hours i got the temp to 84 then this morning it was at 79 hopefully they are ok. the temp is now at 83 i figured its better to leave it now and just check to be sure it stays although it was set higher to begin with
