i like Perlite as an incubate medium but what about the lay box, i used vermiculite yearssss ago with Leos with no problems except i had a milksnake get a mouth full of it and it choked(fed with the lay box inside the cage) That was a bummer! now i use spagnum with snakes. What do you think for Leo lay box?

I use sphagnum peat moss exclusively... Had problems with a few females ingesting sphagnum moss and it freaked me out... Vermiculite dries out too fast in my experience...

For the record, I use perlite as my incubation medium... :D

I use a mixture of Perlite and peat moss that I dampen just enough so that it won't clump together. You have to moisten it again from time to time, but it's no big deal. I have good results. I would be cautious when feeding near a nesting box, I've seen and heard of many animals ending up with mouth fulls of substrate, which can be an unnecessary risk that is easy to avoid with some thinking ahead.
