I had an ant problem during the summer and solved it by pulling out all the tubs, taking the rack outside and spraying liberally with provent-a-mite. It lasted about two months before I had to do it again.

I don't know if you can adapt this to racks, but I had a problem with carpenter ants getting into my cricket 10 gallon tank. I sprayed cooking oil on the outside of the tank and the ants can't climb in there now.

To solve this problem you need to get rid of the ants. This usually entails calling your local pest control. I worked as a pest control field tech for three years after high school, and I can tell you that ants are one of the toughest pest to eradicate! You have to spray the entire yard up to ten to twelve feet from the foundation with a power rig. That way the ants will die before they reach the house!

there were a lot of ants in my house, because there are random crickets in my house (im sure its not from my crickets, i covered up all the holes in the cricket cage) and they die. so once, i saw a trail of ants and saw that they were eating crickets. my cricket cage was right next to my gecko's cage, so i put it in the bathroom. the next day, all the crickets in the cage were gone because of the ants. good thing i put it there, or else they could've gotten my gecko. i sprayed ant killer around the tank's stand.

sprinkle some diametaceous earth around your rack, baseboards, even your entire house. ants won't cross it, and if they do it shreds them.

Hi I have had this problem as well. I googled it and found a few things that work.
Corn meal- It expands when they eat it and kills them. I didnt try this one it sounded a little mean.
The best is baby powder. The main thing in baby powder is (TALK). THE ANTS WONT CROSS IT AT ALL. I put a circle around one and it was still there the nexted day.
I put a line on the out side of the door and along the bace board of our gecko room and also out lined the racks as well. Work perfect havent had one since. You do have to do it again every 3 months or so but its the best.
