try baby supers/normal supers depending on the size of your gecko. Or you can try tempting it with a waxworm then trying to feed mealies..... if a gecko doesnt want to eat something, then (s)he doesnt eat it. Good luck!

How long have you had your leo? If you just recieved him, then he is most likely stressed. It's common for a new leo to refuse food for upto 2 weeks. If this is the case, offer a food item every evening, when the leo feels comfortable enough, then he will eat.

It also helps to know what the gecko was eating prior to the hungerstrike, as like Emily said, you may just have a picky eater. It's always worth it to try different feeders to see if something will trigger his appetite.

You also want to make sure that the temperatures of the tank are correct. The warm side needs to be between 85F - 93F and the cool side should be about 70F - 80F. If the temperatures are off, it prevents your leo from digesting properly thus causing them to not eat.

If the leo still does not eat, you can always try GGG's slurry. It works wonders on leo's that are malnutritioned or just not eating.

you can get some waxworms and spread the guts on the mealies. and if that doesnt work he should just eat waxworms which would boost up his weight...but dont use too many.

Hmm, so he's actually eating the crickets after you go to bed? When you go to feed him, maybe your room is too light, you could try feeding with the light dimmed or completely turned off. I have heard of a few cases where the leo wouldn't eat during daylight, and any overhead light in the room can often seem like daylight to them.

I guess it's worth a shot if nothing else.

I agree that you might want to try to jumpstart his hunger with a waxworm, very few leos can resist them and they will certainly put on weight from em. Just don't let him get addicted to them :main_laugh:

Yeah, you really can't help the paper towel problem. We were worried about keeping the paper towels down awhile back, and so we taped them down to make sure no feeder insects or anything could get underneath. As it turned out, a little baby gecko (just hatched that day) clawed at the tape so much that it came up, and his two front legs ended up getting stuck to it. I tried releasing him as gently as I could, but after I got the first leg undone from the tape, he wriggled so much that he broke the other leg :( It healed just fine, but wasn't a very great experience!

well some of them go under the paper towls. how do i fix it so they dont go under

I put double sided sticky tape on under the edges and corners and stick it to the floor of my terrarium. A few crics still get under there, but not every often, and my leo is never exposed to the tape.

Lowes sold it for .39 cents for 12x12 (nothing special). I bought three and they gave me two free cuts, so I cut the middle piece to make everything fit :D.
And put paper towels in the half inch space in between.

Wont eat crics????!!!! :main_huh:
I've never met a leo that didnt like crics, so maybe he is:
A) stressed
B) about to go into a molt
C) your temps are wrong
D) sick!
E) just in a cranky mood (there's no figuring this one!!)
F) too much bright light

Do you give him privacy? Is his cage in a low traffic area of the house? Do you have cats, dogs, kids!!?? any loud noises (in or out of the house)?
