How do I move my gecko with it moving as little as possible?

My gecko broke it's leg because of my friend so I took it to a vet. The vet said to let it move as little as possible. How do I make sure that it moves as little as possible when I clean it's cage? My gecko is not used to my hands yet so it does not recognize me and think I'm a predator. Also, how long would it take for a fractured leg to heal? My gecko is still very young. Help please....

First thing, if you have more than one leo, make sure he is in a cage by himself.
Have plenty of floor level hides, caves, toilet paper core, toothpast tube box, etc.
Take anything out that incourges climbing.
Find some long 8'' feeding tweezers to minimize the need for your hand being in there.
Use feeders that dont run around the cage, like mealies, or crix with the legs removed. And make sure he has enough calcium and fresh water.
Do not try to touch or handle him, and make sure he has proper temps and lots of soft damp moss in his hide.
Make sure he is in a area of little noise and human activity.
Just move very slowly around him, he will heel okay by himself :main_yes:

Now, go and give that friend of yours a good smack!! :main_evilgrin:

When a vet broke our girls leg, I put up a temperary wall in her tank and put all her dishes and hides close together. It took about 2 1/2 weeks for her to start walking good again but she does well now. Good luck with the little one.

When I have a new leo or a young one that is not used to me I try my best not to disturb them when i clean the cage. My hides are those cheep ziplock storage containers turned up side down (with the lid on) and a square hole cut out of one side. With new geckos I wait till one is in the hide to clean the cage and I take an uncut container and slide it over the hide (so the hole is covered) and then just take the whole thing out, clean the cage, and put it back in. That way I dont have to touch the leo and since those containers arnt completely clear I dont think they can see a whole lot of whats going on around them. This might work for you, just thought Id share (I hope that made since).

Another thing, if you have any hides with the opening on the top, I would remove those and replace with ones that have the entrance in front, at floor level. That way, he wont have to climb it to get in.

Just a thought.
