How do you ship feeders?

I'm overrun by mealies and I was going to sell them ridiculously cheap in the classifieds here, but could someone tell me how to ship them? Will USPS do it or do I have to arrange a pick up with FedEx or UPS or someone?

I have received feeders packaged in cloth bags with some crumpled up newspaper. An easier way to deal with mealie excess, which I have used back in the days where I didn't have hatchlings eating me out of house and home, is to advertise on craigslist and then you won't have to ship. I met the most interesting people --a woman who wanted to use them as bait, a guy who bought 3000 to feed to his large and rare fish that he was breeding . . .

Thanks Aliza, I put an ad on Craigslist as well, though it looks like I'll end up having to ship them out after all. Which leads me back to my original question.

All of the feeders I've ever bought have come to me from USPS, so I ASSUME I should be able to ship mine out through them. But has anyone had any problems doing so? I don't want to walk into the post office and feel like I'm doing something wrong, ya know? They're packed according to the USPS guidelines--well ventilated, not going to escape or anything. They should accept the package, right?

You should be fine, there are no USPS restrictions on mealworms.

I hope so :/. I live in a small town and I'm positive no one's used that post office to ship anything live before. I'm pretty sure I'm going to freak out the women behind the desk lol.

The post office totally didn't care. I went in there and I was like "these are live mealworms and they need to be in florida by tomorrow" and the lady behind the counter just said "oh, alright" and started weighing it. I guess I didn't give them enough credit.

I'd put them in a small box that's got egg carton in it, in a larger insulated box with newspaper and a heat pack, personally... I think that would work nicely
