Hello all,

I was just wondering how many times you can safely breed a female leopard gecko in one season. I have read many articles that refer to breeding a female, then repairing with the same male. This is NOT what I am referring to. All of my females have finished laying eggs about 2 months ago now, would it be safe to breed them again now? They are all back up to weight, and are eating regularly.

You can breed them again, but they have most likely finished ovulating so you probably won't get anything.

I pair my geckos in December and January. You don't want to put to much stress on your girls. Let them have a break and breed them on a more natural cycle.

I find that my geckos ovulate between about Feb. and July. This season, which was a bit on the late side, my last gecko egg was laid 8/30. They will be done ovulating till next late winter/early spring. The males are still in with the females and there is no mating or ovulating going on. I will be separating the males soon to recombine the females and give the males a chance to get "interested" again in January.
