How much calcium?

I have a juvenile gecko that I just rescued. He's about 8-9 month old and never had any calcium/vitamine and was starving. I put a small bowl with some calcium/vitamine (with D3) and I saw with taking some. My question is do I need to also powder his food? And if yes how many time.

Since I had him (3 days ago), he's very active and he's eating like a little pig. 10 crickets every night. But he didn't poop once. I would guess it's because he's used to eat once a week (that's what the previous owner told me, poor thing). The thing is I'm scarded that he's to "filled" and could guet impacted or something. Should I stop feeding him till he poop to give him a chance?

Now he's on a repti-carpet. But he used to ben on some sort a dirt. Could impaction it be a symptom of impaction? Cause he eat like crazy and is very active. I would give him a warm bath, but he's really hard to handle for now. The previous owner has children so they pretty much stressed him as he could be.

Ok I could try that. But how do I make him swallow that? Also do I stop feeding him that much? Cause he will eat everything I give him.

**make sure to avoid his nostrils when you drop it, though. Use an eye dropper or a medicine dropper and try and put a drop over his "lips." It'll take a little bit, but he'll eventually lick it off**

Thanks for the advice. I only have canola oil at home so I'm gonna wait till tomorow morning to see if he will do his business during the night. If not, tomorow I'll go buy that and a medicine dropper to do it properly. I'll just hope for the best.

Also I was just looking at him. He's eating the calcum/vitamine like crazy. Could this be bad at this point?

To be honest, I wouldn't have vitamins in his cage like that. A dish of pure calcium is all that's necessary.

That being said...the powder doesn't exactly take up a lot of space. If he wants to eat it I don't think it's going to be a problem. But if you're worried take it out until you're sure he's ok.

Right on. By the way thx for your help. You helped me in previous thread. I really appreciate that since I'm fairly new with geckos and I want to make they're living as good as it could be.

Right now he's at his 10th mealworm. Should I continue giving him some?

If he'll eat it, I would. I let my leos eat until they're not hungry anymore. Usually they'll refuse food if they're full -or- if they're just greedy they'll eat until they regurgitate the excess.

I have calcium and vitamins in my gecko dishes, half and half (next to each other, not mixed). Sometimes they lick more vitamins, sometimes more calcium.

I figure if they need it, they'll use it...is there any particular reason leaving vitamins in is bad? Or is it a personal preference thing??

Anywho, I feed 10-20 per feeding, depending on how many they want that day. I feed daily to every-other-day, depending on how quickly they ate last time.

I think you're doing great, keep up the good work! The vegetable oil was brilliant.
