How much time do you spend on your geckos each day?

Hello everyone!

Going from 1 to 3 geckos is fun but time-consuming! I love feeding them and tidying up their tanks each night, and tonight I realized that I spend a good chunk of time doing it! (Though, in general, they're still a lot easier than other pets!)

I imagine that it can take up quite a good chunk of the day for people who have many geckos....I think there's some on here who have 50+!! How do they do it??

I spend about 15 minutes per gecko each night. Add another 15 or 20 minutes on nights that I do what I call "insect management", where I do things like clean my gut-loading containers and get new mealies out of the fridge.

Once a month, I do a full tank breakdown and wash everything with a bleach dilution. Toon's tank alone takes about 1 and 1/2 hours because it's a more complex set-up than the other 2. My fat tail's tank takes about 45 minutes, and I imagine my new one's tank will take about the same amount of time.

Well I'm usually in the room with them but if you mean interacting with her, maybe 5-10 minutes.

If I just feed them and don't get distracted I can do all the leopard geckos (16 adults and 14 babies as of this afternoon) and the fat tails (5) and banded geckos (3) in an hour every other night. Then it's another few minutes for the crestie and garg. In the morning it takes about 15 minutes to mist the tropical geckos and feed nectar or crickets to the day geckos and crickets or veggies to the beardie. Feeder management is intermittent.

I can spend anywhere from up to 10 minutes to a couple hours a day on my two leos. Sometimes I just feed and water them and clean up their poo which only takes a few minutes, other times I clean out their tank or build them new hides which can take up to a couple hours. It's time well spent though, I LOOOOOVE my Wiggles and Wheatley <3

An hour at least every evening just for quick basic maintenance (food, water, spot cleaning) for about 200 geckos. Several hours on the weekends, on Thursdays when fresh food arrives that needs care, and on big cleaning days. Yes, I could use an assistant! ;)

yea, I just feed, water, and tidy up my fours gecko's in about 15 minutes. I didnt get geckos to "play" with them either, but when I do handle the one lil lover, it's only about 15 minutes, so half hour total.

Yah, unfortunately Rin isn't too keen on the whole handling thing (such a pity but oh well ;) ) But I still spend *roughly* half an hour each day spot cleaning, feeding, fiddling with things in the tank etc. When I do a "tile wash" (once a week unless she or the crickets make a huge muck out of it lol) its about an hour and a half process.

I don't know the time spent on just geckos, but assuming I have no "irregular" (non daily, like cage cleaning, bowl cleaning, etc.) it takes me an hour in the morning to do my morning baby chores, and an hour at night to put the babies to bed. If I have to clean any part of cages/bowls/water bottles then you can add another 1-2 hours to that time spent. I try to do the irregular chores in the afternoon so it doesn't add on to the morning and night time.

Maybe 15-20 minutes a day. I clean her cage of poo, change the water, and if need be I was the base of my little climbing tree thingy cause it's at her poop corner. I sometimes hold her anywhere from a minute to maybe half an hour. Not everyday though, so it really varies.

during the week i spend a few hours every night feeding, misting lay boxes, checking for eggs, etc. it's like having a part time job actually, but i love it. saturdays are usually full cleaning days and take all day. we probably spend 40 hours a week or so in our gecko room.

Well as a paranoid "mom" of my Merlin, the time I'm not online or doing house work, I spend keeping an eye on him, making sure he has enough food for when he wants it and that the temps don't get too high. Not sure how to estimate exactly how much time that would be so guess it's not a good response, lol.
