How often do you have to clean the enclosure that you keep a mealworm colony in?

Well. You don't put all the diff stages of mealworms together. You don't have to change their oats, only the food you have put in their (apples, orange peels ect). I replace the food every two to three days. Right now I have 3 pupae, 10 beetles and tons of mealworms :)

What, do you plan on breeding?

I already have a colony. I have about 180 mealies now and about 10 pupae and 6 beetles. Beetles and mealies and pupae all have their seperate container. I just didn't know if you cleaned out the enclosures, (change bedding, clean out crap, ect.). My colony seems to be doing pretty well, hopefully it'll keep going this well. :main_evilgrin:

Brad...If they are supplying you constant worms........"Cleaning" as you say can throw away your eggs, tiny, tiny, worms, etc........the so called bedding is the food that they are being raised on and will also have the life stages in it. The veggies, fruit, etc. is for their moisture so they don't dehydrate. Just add more grain and moisture items as needed. Cleaning out can be done by adding a new starting container and waiting until no more signs of any life stages are shown in the one to be cleaned............thats the time to dump it. take care.
