Hi everyone.

I was just wondering how those punnet / mendelle charts are done?

How do I know what genes a gecko carries ..
and how to tell if a gecko is het/recessive/co dominant ..how does all this stuff works ..

I don't understand.

There is no visual way to tell if a gecko is heterozygous for something. Like with some snakes there are some visual markers that MAY help determine if there is a het or not...it doesn't work that way with leopard geckos...

That's why most of us are SUPER obsessive about keeping records of what we breed, and who we breed it to.

This pretty much says it all. Even when working with "visual" morphs there can still be confusion or debate over expression of the genetics or not. Keep good records and only purchase from someone who can provide lineage of animals.

That is correct there is no way to tell what a het is without knowing what the gecko came from or technically doing whats called proof breeding but that could take years to do. So better off knowing up front what ya get.
