How to make Leos/AFTs switch feeder preference

Hi All,

How do I make my Leos and AFTs switch from crickets to mealworms (MW) and superworms (SW)?

I have a couple Leos and AFTs that are strict cricket eaters and would not touch any MW or SW at all even with the "starvation method".

The rest of the geckos are taking to MW and SW readily.

Anyone with a solution for this?
Crickets are just not my cup of tea and I hope to totally remove them from the menu.

Thank you!

Regards,
Jackson

There's little chance you'll get the AFT's to switch; they generally don't eat worms. You could try the siege method: worms or nothing. You could switch to roaches. Good luck.'

Adult AFT's are very hard to switch over to Superworms if previously feeding on Crickets. And its almost impossible to switch Adults over to Mealworms if they were previously eating crickets.

Babies are the easiest to switch, leave them with no food, 3-5 days then offer a few mealies.

With adults let them go hungry for 7 days, then just toss in a few Superworms and see if they take it, or you can try mealworms..but from my experiences i have had poor results with the Mealworm..its easier to get them to eat the Superworms.

Unfortunately when dealing with Fat Tails, Crickets is just something you will have to deal with. I have most of my Fat Tails feeding on Mealworms/Superworms. However, I still have the stubborn ones that will only eat Crickets, and there is nothing I could do about it... If Crickets keep my Fatties healthy then I will continue giving them Crickets..

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies.
They were willing to go without food for 2 to 3 weeks at a time (I left 2 SW in their dish during this time so I would know if they ate)
Just refused to eat...
But if I throw in crickets.. Zap.

Really strong willed these geckos.
Will try dubias once my colony is sustainable.
