this is my female, she's about 3 years old. He colours are so drab. Temps are fine. Her cage mate is very bright. Is there anyway to brighten her up? She's been this dark since I got her as a juvie.

i agree with Christina 100%. it is genetically programmed into a leopard as to how it is going to look. the better the care, the better the appearance of the animal will be, but some are genetically going to outshine others.

I have seen some color changes especially with SHT's that can vary with substrate color, mood and floor temp. However, many low-grade SHT's, while they may be brightly colored as juvies, tend to get mud-colored as they age. There was talk awhile ago (you may find it if you search the forums) about food supplements that would enhance color but I don't think that went anywhere.

i personally think that is a beautiful gecko, I would be happy with that one, just the way it is! it may not be blazing colors, but still beautiful!

I've used Rephashy's for a year now and my groups seemed to be tired of if. So I went back to the other separate supplements for a brief time. There has been a noticeable difference in brightness of my geckos, especially the 2year old sunglow that just laid her 10th clutch and looks fabulous. I think she's finally done for the season, but after the last clutch 5 weeks ago, she looked ragged, dull, and thin.

I notice the same thing with both my SHT and SHTCTB. They do have a tendency to vary in appearance from day to day. Just how it is with those guys. Some days they looks awsome other days a little dull. Not much you can really do about it.

Other than that, genetics to play a big part.

Lol, yes, that was Kara, the super hypo. She was sure happy to get home in her warm tub and hide, then laid the 22nd. Now back to eating like her normal piggy self Millie, the sunglow, laid tonight.

I bet she was happy. She was probably holding it in for the whole show thinking come on when can I get home and lay these things lol

Is there multiple warm hiding spots? It could be stress from sharing a place, or just not enough room where the hotspot is. In my experience, usually color changes like that are from cold temps or breeding.

I think your gecko looks awesome - I wouldn't change him. Especially since you have one that's bright already. Think of it as variety. You got a bright one and a bamf one :)

Actually, you have something special. :main_thumbsup: There are lots of people looking for "charcoal" geckos, "dark Tangerines," "Chocolate Tangs," etc. In the wilderness, your dark gecko would survive, not the bright yellow one :D

just to clarify Laney, do you think your animals are brighter WITH Repashy, or withOUT it?
