I guess that would depend on what is causing the odor?

If its from their poop what works for me is that I have the usual paper towel laid out on the bottom but in the corner that they poop in I fold up another one or two sheets into a square and leave it there. That way when they poop on it I can just remove that one sheet.

If it's their food, with the exception of mealworms which I generally always leave a small amount in the tank I remove any uneaten crickets or superworms after a couple hours.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is making sure you scrub down the tank every week.

If it's the gecko, I do not know? maybe that might be a sign of a health problem? I never had a problem with a gecko itself being stinky. Just their attitudes sometimes.

The only way to cut down the odor is to clean the cage. If the poop is runny and stinky, you may want to take a sample to the vet to see about parasites. We have some geckos that just have stinky poo, so we have to clean those tubs about 2 times a week to keep the odor on the down low.

Yeah a proper cleaning will remove the odor ....until it has another movement that is :)

I think there will always be in odor present no matter what you do. Since the enclosures are heated, it also adds to the smell. From what I noticed, mealworms smell less than superworms or crix.

I've had unfortunate incidents where crix or superworms actually climbed into the water dish and drowned! Now that's a new kind of smell!:p

Yea, I just have a folded paper towel on their bathroom side and just throw it away and replace it after it is soiled. I have a small gecko room and have had 0 problems with smell.

Though I noticed that my Males cage (glass with slate) Smells considerably less than My female plastic tub with paper towels. So maybe plastic tubs smell more? Or because paper towels are so absorbent they retain the smell more?

I put a cheap bathroom tile (4"x4") in the corner where they poo so I can just pick it up and wipe the stuff off. If it stains, I mist it and then wipe it off. It isn't absorbant so I usually doesn't smell.

Me too, my geckos have their own roll of toilet paper :main_laugh:
Their poop usually won't stay in their tank for more than 15 minutes!

odor control

no matter how much you clean when there are a few hundred geckos pooping it just plain stinks. i dont have a garage or basement i have a 2 bedroom condo. so i use an air purifier by alpine/ecoquest. it makes ozone which takes the odor from the air. they are not cheap but they work great. it was by far one of the best investments i ever made. I use white vinegar diluted with water. Then I use Zoomed Wipe out. Seems to work great
