Hello,

I was asked by a Canadian if I could ship there. I've never done that before and don't think shipyourreptiles would cover that.

Does anybody who has done this before know which carrier to get when shipping from the U.S. to Canada? Are any special papers/licenses needed? What would the fees be?

Please see THIS POST. The other option is if your customer in Canada lives close to the USA border, you can send the gecko to that UPS or FedEx hub to be held for customer pickup. Then the customer can deal with all the paperwork to get the gecko back into Canada.

I wish it was easier to ship to Canada, Europe, Mexico, etc. I hate having to turn down sales.:(

We ship snakes only to the lower 48 because of all the red tape. It's very expensive even to Alaska, if they can even honor the overnight poicy. If there's any delay, it could cost the animal's life. Unless you plan to start doing a lot of out of country business, it seems it would be a big expense to obtain all the necessary permits.

Thank you! Naw, I'm not going to do any out-of-country business. I'm just a school teacher with a few pretty geckos, not a big enterprise. Even when I ship to Germany, I just ship to a big U.S. breeder and he includes my geckos in his Hamm show shipment (if it works out; first try for me this month!).

Naw, I'm just a translator who got around a bit and finally found a place to stay... after living in Germany, Russia, France, and the U.S. :main_laugh: I like it here on my little "Animal Farm"! (Still gettin' used to tornadoes and that kind of stuff, which I never encountered in Europe....)

She appears to be a multi-linguistical wonder.
I actually am a little envious, of that and her geckos!

Good luck with your shipping endeavors of international intrigue!

I teach grammar and methods for English education majors at SIUC :main_rolleyes: :main_laugh:

When someone says school teacher I usually take that as in public school not a college professor. So sorry for the misunderstanding! :main_rolleyes: I was just curious as I am enrolled at Missouri State in the BSED program.

Oh, I did the Master of Arts in Teaching program and am a licensed IL high school teacher for German, French, and English. Only, when I got my degree in 2007, they informed me that I'm not allowed to teach in IL public schools, because I'm not a U.S. citizen!!! :main_laugh: :main_rolleyes: :main_huh: BUT I am allowed to teach future teachers at the college level, so I'm doing that now :main_evilgrin:
