So I got a huge back of plain vermeculite in getting set up for eggs this year. In the past I've just used shredded paper towels in my tupperware hides within my rack. Never had any problems until a few months ago when my BEE female hatchling (25 grams) ate a whole belly full of paper towels.
I replaced the shredded paper towels with plain vermeculite. This is a large grain form of what I used to have that was very fine. I have noticed that several of them have vermeculite in their stools. Everyone seems just fine and weight records are stable or improving on each othem, however I have noticed some don't have the same appetite when tong feeding individuals. I've contemplated taking out the vermeculite but have had issues with them pooping in the peat moss and not being easy to find until it starts molding, then I switched to the shredded paper towels and had the problem with ingestion, and then to the vermeculite and again ingestion. I have had no problems with impaction at all (the BEE even passed two stools of only paper towels).
Anyone have similar problems?

see I'd always used paper towels as well unless the females were laying. But when my BEE ate the paper towels, I'm talking three full fecals of only paper towels were passed. I'll switch them back cause i'd hate to have a problem with ingestion/impaction from the vermeculite on all of them. Although they all seem fine and are passing it with no problems. Just don't want to take the chance.

Thanks
