If you're going to food trial route, it's best, like you are doing, to try a dog food with ONE meat source and ONE carb source.

While Evo is a great food, not ALL food allergies come from grains. They can come from meat as well (and meat allergies are more common than a lot of people give them credit for being). And Evo has at least two meat sources in it (chicken and turkey, chicken is a very common meat allergy in dogs).

Food allergies take a while to pin down, but it's great that you are using a food with one protein source and one carb source for now.

There aren't vet tests for food allergies, and food allergy tests that ARE given are not always accurate.

So it's best to do a food trial since you've gone the whole environmental allergy route already.

Also, if you are going the food trial route, it's VERY important that your dog ingests NO other food than the food trial food.
No treats (unless it's the food trial food), and watch him like a hawk so that he doesn't get into any other foods.
Or you'll have to start the trial all over.

I was suggesting it, as it's a natural dog food not necessarily bc of the no-low fiber content. The allergies could be from anything in the food. Evo also comes in red meat (beef as the main source of protein), as well as chicken and turkey. They also have canned foods with duck or venison. But, yes meat allergies are one of many that could be causing the food allergy. Other food allergies can inclulde additives, dairy, eggs, grains, soy, whey, meat, or vegetable.

gypsyterrace, You may want to just try a homemade diet of raw foods.
