when I candle it - have been able to for over a week.

If it had stopped developing or died, would the veins go away? The egg itself has gotten bigger. But I can't tell if the embryo has or not! We're around Day 45 on it.

If you see veins in the egg the baby is still in there and should be fine and ready to hatch very soon. At day 45 you don't have much longer depending on what temps you're incubating at. I've always found it very hard to see the leopard gecko in the egg once it gets close to hatching.

I was hoping that because I could still see the veins that that was a good sign!

The other 2 eggs went bad, but they were in a separate container, so I know they in no way contaminated this one.

I CAN'T WAIT! Today is day 50!

UPDATE!!!!!

Okay --

Egg is not stinky yet, but it is seeping out one end. I do not see movement and the baby is obviously not filling the egg ....

Did the egg go bad?

It is possible the baby died at an early stage in development. If it was due to hatch soon, you should see very little red in the egg. You shouldn't really be able to see through it at all since the baby should be taking up most of the room in the egg at that point.

We're on Day 54, so I'd say we died about the time the others did then ...

Now - - to let it go until it stinks just in case or just it open now ....

WARNING _____ GRAPHIC PICS BELOW

The bottom of the egg was turning black, and there was beginning to be an odor, so I went ahead and cut it open .....

I think he drowned -- there was a lot of fluid in the egg that spurted out when I cut it and with it leaking before - it was really swollen and it wasn't the baby taking up room. Do y'all see anything else? Think he was a normal.
