It's not as good as I would like it to be, but I'm done with it. I'm going home for just a few days for X-mas and want to give it to my mom. Our family doesn't 'do' gift-giving anymore at X-mas, but since she bought a new house last week I'm giving it to her as a house-warming present.

I kind of hurried to finish it, and still need to brush on the 'varnish' over the top now that it's dry. Shanti, you're definitely right about doing the background first--at least I know that now for the next one I do. There are some things I'd like to change about it, but I don't want to start all over. Besides, it's the first one I've done so I gots to cut myself some slack. heh heh

Thank you, ladies :D

I'm glad I put the satin "varnish" stuff over it (two coats). It really brought the colors and detail out. I've got it all wrapped up real pretty like. My mom is taking me to see her new place when I'm up there, and that's when I'll plan on giving it to her. I had told her I had taken up painting, but otherwise hadn't said much about it or told her exactly what I was painting.

Oh, and now when I return hopefully I can start working on one of Abby for Jeanne. ;)

You don't even know what it means to me, Abbie is my life and to have a painting of her would be so cool!
