Wooo Hoooo!! I just discovered that I have pupae!! I went to change their potatos to fresh ones, and their I see two pupae sitting on top of the oats!! :main_thumbsup: I'm so exited!! When I saw them, I sang a little song. "Oh yea, I got pupae, ohh yea, dah dah dah... pupae, yyyeeeaaa"!! Lol.

Anywho... So.... Now what do I do? I have got the two pupae in a small tubiware conatiner with some oats. Do I still have to lay potato on top of the oets for moister for the pupae? How long will they stay like this untill they turn into bettles? What do I do when the pupae become bettles (their setup ect)? Please answer all my questions....

Thanks!!

I have a simple questions... Maybe someone can answer it.... Okay. Do and can Giant Mealworms (1" in lenght) breed/pupae stage ect? Or are they just for feeding??

Thanks.

I don’t think pupa need moister, and I don’t know how long into the turn into beetles either. I’ve raised them before, I just never kept track. The beetles I have are in the same set-up as the mealworms. I actually never sort or separated, just let them do their thing. It seemed to work okay, and I got worms for about 2 years without changing the substance. Then the substance went to poop, and was like that for over a year, and then they all died. I’m trying to start a new colony right now, and just got some worms, but I don’t really know, how to answer your question with a definite answer.

They are sprayed with a growth hormone, and they will not change into beetles more often than not, they are the same species, just modified with a hormone, to make them bigger. I don’t think they are recommending for feeding, even by some that sell them. They are better used for fishing.

Put the pupae in a cup by themselves. When they turn into beetles, set them up like the mealworms. You don't need to give the pupae any potatoe or anything, they don't eat when in this stage.
