Some time in the late summer, one of my SW banded geckos (coleonyx) got out of the racdk and disappeared (you know how this is going to end . . .). I looked all over with no success. In the fall, I moved everything in the living room and dining room from against the walls and did a complete vacuum/mop and didn't see anything (all in all I had 2 coleonyx and 1 leopard gecko "escape"). A few weeks ago, I was chasing an errant cricket under the coffee table in the corner and suddenly I saw this little striped thing, which, of course, got away because it startled me so badly. I was really worried that I'd chased it down the heat duct, but I put out a damp paper towel a hide, dish of mealworms and water dish. Nothing, till tonight, I looked with the flashlight and there it was, in the hide, staring up at me. Unfortunately the hide is large and open on 3 sides. I've replaced it with a deli cup with a door and some eco earth. I'm hoping it goes in there soon . . .

Since Aug. or Sept. It's smaller than my 3 month old Juvi born in Oct., not surprising. I'm tossing small crickets in the direction of where it's been hanging out and I'm hoping it will go into the new hides I've put out and that I can catch it and feed it properly.

I caught her! (at least I think it's a female). She was in the mealworm dish I left out so I put a cup on top of her and scooped her into an extra cage. She's a bit nervous but I think she'll adjust.

That's the only good news with my coleonyx. The first set of eggs looks as if they won't be any good and one of my adult females, who has always been smaller than the other, looks as if she's really gone downhill in the past week. She's in a cage of her own but I don't think she's going to survive.
