I have an egg question.

My question seems rather stupid in my opinion, and with 10 years of veterinary experiance I really should know the answer but here goes. I have been incubating an egg for 41 days now, and it has grown quite a bit in size. Here's the thing...for the first few weeks I didn't have an incubator (money was tight- three cheers for Bush), so I kept the container in the warmest spot in the kitchen. I don't see any signs of dehydration or fungus and everything seems to be going well. It's about twice the size it was when she laid it. I have candled it several times and there are definatly new veins every time I look. My question is, if it's growing in size, that means it's fertile, correct? I mean...things that aren't alive don't grow, right? I feel kinda silly for asking.

if you see veins and at 41 days i would say you should be able to see the shadow of the baby by now. You sound like you are good to go

I'd say about 85% of the egg is pink with veins...but no darkness. No darkness at all. Shouldn't I be seeing something like, blackish colored? Unless its a really light gecko? Or it hasn't developed color yet? I figured i'd just keep incubating it until it hatches or collapses. I heard about some breeders that have incubated eggs for 3 months before they hatched. I wish I could post a picture for you guys...maybe i'll go to wal-mart later and invest in a digital cameral of some sort...

erll if it does not have dents or mold rule of thumb is keep it cooking.. I would have thought if it was growing something should be seen,
