This is my guy. I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE this little tortoise. He comes to me when I tap on things. He will respond to his name 95% of the time, whether it's to click at me or just a look, I KNOW he knows his name.
He walks up to me to greet me (most likely because he wants food, but whatever).
I just ADORE him.

I caught him on the ledge of his food dish tonight.

This tortoise is like a friend to me. I take him outside and spend time with him. He's just the best reptile EVER.

Thanks, guys!!

Yes, he often responds to his name.
It's so cute.

One time, a couple weeks ago, I got up earlier in the morning than usual, and the first thing I do is mist him and his enclosure, and I put him in his water dish to get a drink.

Well, I lifted the lids to his enclosure, was misting his moss, and I couldn't find him.
So, I called to him and said, "Stagger Lee, where are you?"
And he clicked and squeaked. But I couldn't find him.
So I called him 3-4 more times, and each time he clicked and squeaked when I called his name.
FINALLY, I found him burrowed under his moss.

Silly tortoise.

He makes me want one even more! I swear I can never go to your house. I'll want to take everyone home with me!

hahahahaha!
Thanks!
Stagger is my baby.
That tortoise gets just about whatever a tortoise could want.
I mean, besides an outside pen. But he's too little for that.
But in a few years, when he's grown a couple more inches, I'm hoping to hook him up with a decent little outside paradise pen.

He's so cute... One day when I have more room, a nice redfoot will be on the list, but by the time I have more room, I'll have tons of other things on the list too, so it'll be a matter of what is priority.

Awh, what a cutie! I would love to get one, but they don't do well here. Maybe the shipping and temperatures? I'm not sure...

Wow, you've gotta love those guys! I've got too get me some red foots sometime soon. I'm not suprised it recognizes its name. Turtles/Tortoises are among the most intelligent reptiles. You can train them to take food out of your hand if you play a piece of music! For more details, PM me.
