Today when I was cleaning out my crested geckos enclosure, one of them was in the cracks of the glass and I accidently shut the door on his lower half body. It squeezed him very hard and directly after that he started spazzing out. He couldn't walk right, and his tail was shaking a lot. He is extremely wobbly and is sitting under a plant right now. When I tried spraying a little water on him his tail started spinning around again. I don't know what's going on inside his body. I think I might of hurt his spine or something and it might be causing the nerves to act up. What should I do???!! PLEASE HELP!!

(I know this is for the leopard gecko care, but I know most people on this forum look at the leopard gecko section so I need as many people as possible to help me out please!!)

Thanks.

You should take him to a reptile vet, NOW. sounds like he is in alot of pain. where are you located at? find the nearest vet and I would go, if there not open, go first thing in the morning. But call now!!! take him in a critter keeper, or a box. I take a microwavable heat pack or a water bottle with bot water in it and place that in the box. the put a small towl oer it. good luck!

Make an appointment and take him to a vet.
I know tomorrow is Sunday, but try to keep him as stress free as possible until you can get him to a vet.

Spray him once or twice a day, keep food and water in there, and leave him be.

That's what I would do. I think handling him would just stress him out at this point.

I ended up taking him to the vet later that night and the vet gave him an anti-inflammatory shot and told me he most likely had a broken spine. He told me to monitor him closely for the next few days.

Sorry...I had to butt in...

Does this vet see reptiles on a regular basis? Did he do any XRays? He thinks the gecko broke it's back, so he gave it a shot and sent you home? WTH? :main_huh: What's the game plan now besides "wait and see"? In my personal experiance, we don't sent patients home with broken backs :main_no:

As much as it stinks to spend the money, i'd go ahead and get a second opinion....you can find a reptile vet here~~~~> http://www.herpvetconnection.com/

But before all of that takes place....how is the gecko doing?

Yea I second what Maia is saying, you don't just tell someone to wait and see with a broken back. Definately see if you can take her to someone else and get a more thorough workup done. Good luck!
