What is this morph? It has got 2 solid black eyes. The parents are Enigma and Sunglow

Could it be A BEE? Shouldn't it have Red eyes if it's a NOVA? I am still getting the hang of id'ing so one of the experts will answer the definitively.

It doesn't look like a Nova to me. It looks like a regular enigma.

I don't think you could make a Nova with that combo. From my understanding, Enigma x Sunglow = Enigma het Tremper Albino and Hypo het Tremper Albino...or bell/rainwater...whichever strain albino it may be.

What do the eyes look like?

Maybe the Enigma was het RAPTOR, and the Sunglow was het Eclipse? That could make a Nova.

That's what I'm assuming happened, an Enigma het Raptor and a Sunglow het Raptor. Unless the picture is decieving ant the baby doesnt have eclipse eyes, in that case its just a Tremper Enigma.

the breeder i got them from did the test breeding, its how he figured out the sunglow was het eclipse. none of the male enigma x female no hets produced any eclipse, but several of the no het male x female sunglow produced eclipse. i of course will be breeding them again, but this year the male enigma is going in with the same sunglow female, a bell hybino, and one of my super snows

By breeding the male Enigma to a Sunglow het Eclipse and producing Novas you have proven him to be het Tremper and Eclipse (RAPTOR). Breeding him to a Bell will produce unnecessary het Bell poss het Tremper offspring.

since none of his previous offspring when paired up with non het females produced any eclipse traits, could it be possible that the female is the het raptor? this is so tricky when you haven't paired them yourself. im going strictly by his records of course. i don't want to breed him to a bell if he's het tremper.

So I was correct. The enigma has to be het RAPTOR, and the sunglow het eclipse. I am SO getting the hang of this! :main_thumbsup:

I don't think so...I think the only thing she could be het for is eclipse, since a Sunglow is essentialy an albino (either bell, tremper or rainwater) SHTCT...
Someone please correct me if i'm wrong

A het Eclipse paired to a non-het can't produce Eclipses, that test proves nothing. Both the sire and dame must be het Eclipse or homozygous Eclipse to produce Eclipse offspring. The same holds true for any recessive trait.

learn something new everyday. thanks tony. now you have me worried about breeding any of the leos from the collection i picked up without test breeding first.

Even with the Enigma het RAPTOR and Sunglow het Eclipse parents, I still don't think it's a Nova. I think that it's a BEE het Tremper Albino.

How does it not look albino to you? Maybe I missed something, Is there something in particular you are looking at on the animal?

The body color screams albino to me, I suspect the eyes aren't as dark as they look in the photo. Even if they are dark, deep ruby almost black eyes aren't that rare.
