Oh.. that's very sad
I feel with you because I also have a dog and I would be horribly shocked when he had a accident in loose one of his legs.
It's also very bad when you say you have two cars a day passing your front door and of of them hits your dog.
I'm so sorry for you.
Is he able to stay alive with just three legs or do you have to euthanize him?

Oh Marula, I am so sorry about Twinkle! Will she be OK? What a tragic coincidence that the car happened to come at the very same moment.

Please try not to blame yourselves. There is a reason these things are called "accidents"...

That is terrible to hear, but on the bright side, dogs can and do function just fine with 3 legs. Yeah, it will take some time, but before you know it, she will be her normal self again and probably shock you at how well she works through the issue. Good luck and keep her happy while she's recovering.

Oh Marula, I am so sorry to hear about Twinkle! marcia is right, you can't beet yourself up over this. Accidents happen.

I hope that she will make it through this and you will have her by your side in no time! My prayers got out to her and your family!

Marula, something similar happened to me. One of my dogs fell from a second floor sometime ago, it seems that my sister left the window opened. But no one is blaming her, my dogs hadn't ever made any atempt of jumping from the window, who could have ever imagined?

She didn't lose any leg but one of them is totally ruined, she will never be able to use the four legs as she used to do. It really breaks my heart seeing her limp, but she doesn't seem to care at all... She plays and runs and digs as if nothing happened. And when someone that is walking by looks at her she overdoes the limp so they stop to say 'Aaaw, poor doggy' and stroke her, LOL! So, they do well using only three of their legs. At least mine doesn't seem to be traumatized at all.

The worst thing about it was that I live far away from my mother's home and wasn't able to be with my dog when she needed it the most. The first days after the fall must have been horrible and I couldn't be there... But you are there to confort her in this hard time.

I was watching something on Animal Planet once actually. The dog was born with no front legs. It learned to walk purely on his two hind legs with ease. The best part about it, every dog that would walk past it would stand on their hind legs as well, like they were trying to be like him. It was so funny. I just thought that story could help show, along with Sandra's story how they adapt very well and will be back to normal with time.

I hope she makes a quick recovery. One of my friends has a tripod pit bull and she gets around better than most 4 legged dogs. She even plays frisbee. Sometimes bad things just happen for no reason so just give her lots of love and she'll be back to running around in no time.

Marula, I am so sorry that Twinkle got hurt. She will recover well and be back to her normal self before you know. Don't feel guilty, like Marcia said, that's why they are called accidents.
