Yep Jeanne, I think the quiet would drive me nuts!!!! There is a big stereo in the reck room, but you can't hear it clear cause the furnace over powers it.

LOL Chris. I do take the tops, and I'm glad I do, cause now when moving my racks all down stairs I just have to put the lids on the tubs and stack them. It's also good for when I disinfect the rack itself, just take out all the tubs, put the lids on and clean, then clean the tubs and slide them back in one at a time.

Yeah, I play my IPod on my IHome while Cleaning - Feeding.

I wish when I ordered my racks that they would have sent the tops with them. I do the same as you, I will take all the tubs out of the racks and clean and disinfect the rack itself, probably 2 or 3 times a year.

Officially work has begun, FINALLY!!! We spent most of Mon getting supplies, and getting everything in the house. And then waiting of my Heating/AC to move the line from the AC unit outside so that it's not in the way anymore. All the wood work should be done today, then drywall time!!!

lol Hubby is insisting on insulating the outside walls now.... ummm it's a basement, and I've already been told I don't need it. Oh well hubby's paying for the insulation!!

And I've been informed that the guy that will be working on some of the electrical work, actually works for the government, he travels doing electrical work at all the US Embassies. Now that sounds like fun, he's been out of the country for the past two years, just got home and my neighbor is making him work.....LOL

Moving right along. I'm hoping to be moved in by next Friday. Will be heading out tomorrow to get the stuff for the drop ceiling tomrrow.

Well today they finished up the taping and hung the door. Going to add trim under the door just in case we have an escape so no one can leave the room. I should have the go ahead to prime and paint tomorrow!!!

The door has been hung and the taping/mudding is all done. Guys coming over to sand now and then I get to have fun with primer and paint! Should all be done Monday!!!! Still need the ceiling and molding around the door.

Woo Hoo!!! Primer and Painting all done!!! Heading to Target to get more tubs for the adult rack (32 tubs) I built last week. Once it's upright (to heavy for me to flip) I'll post pics of that rack.

Almost done. We got a late start today, and were only able to get the drop ceiling in. I' cleaned up the room and moved in the new hatchling rack and my table. After the new light fixtures and molding for the door we're all done! Doesn't even seem like the same room at all.

Done, FINALLY!!!! I still need to move the incubator, vision rack, adult cresteds, filing cabinet, super colony, and I think that's it. Then to get the roll of padding for the floor so my feet don't kill after a day of cleaning and feeding. Oh and a few more racks! lol


The white rack on the far end is the new adult rack I built, 8 rows of 4 tubs. took 4 guys to flip it over. LOL The light fixture closest to the door will be set on a timer to stimulate natural daylight cycle, while the far one is only on when I'm in the room.

I noticed that the baby cresteds fired up after only 30 min in the new room with the full spectum light bulbs. The light is so close to being out doors, I love it.

This one was fired up a little more, but I didn't get my camera in time.

This one has been a real light tan color since a week after I brought it home, don't think it liked my office. Picture taken without flash
