Important Advice Please

Good morning all,

Please can someone offer some advice?

I enquired a few days ago about two leopard gecko's i was interested in purchasing. After visiting them yesterday and seeing them they were extremely active and well fed. All orafaces were clear and therefore i purchased them.

After bringing them home and putting them in their new enclosure they were extremely active still! (i thought they may go into hiding!) they explored their environment for hours and didn't go sleepy again until in the night.

I've seen them drink yet was told not to feed them for a couple of days so i therfore haven't seen them eat yet.

My issue is, i found a 'motion' this morning that i don't think looks normal.

It is pale brown and almost like a jelly?

Can someone please shed some light on this and offer an explenation?

If i need to get her to a vet i would rather do it asap!

Thanks everyone,
Lil.

I would wait a bit and see how things "come out" as they acclimate and you feed them. Sometimes if they've just eaten their sheds, what comes out looks different. If for some reason they ate something out of their usual diet (maybe the person who owned them had a new feeder) it may also affect what comes out. I don't think holding off for a couple of days will do any harm.

I agree with Aliza. Leopard geckos can get loose stool from stressful situations, such as going from one place to another compleatly different one, just like dogs, cats, humans and even birds.

Give it a little time and monitor all bowel movements...if it continues for more than, say, 4 days or so, then maybe have a sample analyzed by a good reptile vet, or a good veterinary nurse.

Thanks ever so much acpart and Jordanang420,

That's really helpful and supportive, the normal female i have was shedding yesterday so the suggestion about what they may have eaten does fit well and i guess i have only had them 24 hours!

I will keep a close eye and keep you updated. At least they are quite chunky and healthy otherwise, i'm amazed by how active they are!

I phoned around today and found a couple of good vets with reptile experience locally so i can make an appointment if need be.

Thanks again both,
Lil.
