Hello Gecko Owners, im pretty new to the reptile world.

i write this to get some suggestions and seek help from you guys
1. i got my leopard gecko last night (Petco), since ive gotten him he has not eaten, today about 30 mins ago 2:30pm EST, i put in a meal work (small) powered with Leopard Gecko vitamin, and all he does is look at it attempts to eat it, misses and just doesn't try again. Should i keep on waiting till he eats? he just sits in the hot spot all day.

2. i have a Humidity gauge, thermometer, UTH,food and water dish, vitamins, mealworms, currently using newspaper but already ordered carpet.
3.) i already re-supplied his water.
i dont know what to do he is just slow and stays there
4.) temp is about 90F and Humidity 55%
please help me guys.

here are some pictures, do you guys see anything wrong?

2 things...
1. Many times a gecko needs time to adjust to its new surroundings and will not eat right away. It can be a week or more so I would not worry. Also Petco has like what... a 2 week guarantee?
2. Leopard geckos are nocturnal. They are not really active during the day. Some leopard geckos are more active than others in general but their prime time of activity is when lights are out.

Your gecko may also be scared so just give him at least a couple weeks on his own before really handling or messing with him.

He could use a little food but he doesnt appear sick, which means basically nothing. Watch for sever weight loss and other issues. The thermometers on the side of the tank arnt of much use, you need a prob thermometer to measure surface temps. Also, what types of Supplements are you using.

I have six and not a one has every eaten on the first day. He looks a little thin but you've come to the right place to get him in tip top shape.

It varies between animals. They can take up to a week or more to get comfortable. I have always been very lucky with mine all 4 of mine ate the next day but I put them in their cages and left them alone with food in there.

You need to just relax a bit, you are getting overly worried way too soon.

Alright thanks for the feedback. Also can you tell by the picture what kind of gecko is it?

You don't need to be worrying about humidity for leopard geckos, they come from dry, semiarid areas such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. They are not like many other geckos that require larger amounts of humidity. However, it is important to provide some form of humidity to help facilitate shedding and help with hydration, and that can come in the form of a moist hide. I use Tupperware containers filled with moist paper towel and misted.

No, I'm sure he is fine you just need to let him settle in. You shouldn't be "grabbing" him, especially when you only just got him. You probably just scared him, which is why he is not eating. With a new gecko you should not handle them or keep it to a minimum and only do so so you can clean the tank and so on. When he is ready, put your hand in the tank and if he wants to he will climb on your hand and then you can take him out, if he doesn't climb on just leave him. I'm sure if a giant came and grabbed you you would be under a lot of stress too lol :) just give him time to settle in.
