Ive been incubating all my eggs in the same container but ive beeen told i should seperate each clutch into a deli pot of its own? Is this necessary? Has anyone been successful keeping all eggs in one big container?

I have 4 containers in the incubator and put about 8-10 eggs in each container. I have not had a problem with this. It can be tough if multiple babies hatch at the same time and can't be distinguished from each other,.

I put eggs from the same groups in the same container. For example I have a Bell Enigma breeding to three Bell females and all their eggs go into my Bell Enigma incubation container. I then label on the top of the container with tape the respective mother and date laid and then wait, I get anywhere from 10-16 eggs per container and haven't had any problems with all my groups or lost track of any eggs. In this business you need to be organized and also save space. As long as you can be on top of things and keep track of the details I don't see anything wrong with what you are doing. Everyone has their way of doing things and most meet with a lot of success. :D

I can fit 9 containers in my hovabator with 6 eggs in each container. I also label them with the date laid, how many eggs from that clutch, and the parents numbers. I also keep all that info in a log, then log birth date and issue an I.D.#

Do any of you change the vermiculite/perlite after hatches? As i heard fluid from eggs can cause bacteria?

I hadn't been doing this, but since I read about it in another thread here, I've started changing the perlite after the eggs in the container have hatched.

I use one container for one female. Sometimes there will be 6 eggs in the same container. They're all numbered and the dates are on the outside. It seems to work okay for me. I don't mix eggs from different females though. Instead of just marking the egg, I put the initial of the female and the number 1-6+. It helps me keep track better.

So if you keep all the eggs one female is laying in one container, do you add water every time you add eggs? We want to do this too, but didn't know how to regulate moisture for old and new eggs. Slight confusion :dizzy2:

Dang that alot of eggs for a hovabator. I can fit 9 containers in there but only 2 eggs in each container for a total of 18 eggs. For someone to be putting 9 containers with 6 eggs in each for a total of 54 eggs in the hova, you have to be cramming them in there. Just would like to see a pic to see how your working this out. Maybe its me that isn't using all the room i can.

I don't have one with six in it at the moment, but I'm sure you get the idea. ;)

I use superhatch and I've never had to add water to any container yet. I used it for the second half of last season and it's all I've used so far this season.
